Tick-Borne Diseases Complicating Doctors Diagnosis

Action Pest Control Names the Tick as Pest of the Month

August 8, 2008, Toms River, NJ:  Action Termite and Pest Control (www.actionpestcontrol.com) has named the notorious Tick as the Pest of the Month.  Ticks have become a major concern due to the increase in the transmission of Lyme's Disease.

"This is a very busy time of year for us, as Ticks are out in numbers and are a serious health problem" commented  Richard Russell, President.  "We have developed a proven method for the proper elimination of this pest and we are determined to protect the environments of our customers."

According to the Lyme Disease Association, "ticks now carry a whole host of tick-borne diseases (TBD) which can complicate diagnosis and treatment.  The longer a tick is attached, the greater the risk of acquiring infection (s).  Having more than one TBD at the same time is called co-infection.  Doctors may not be aware of some of the TBDs in our area."

In addition to Lyme Disease, being bitten by a Deer Tick may give you anaplamosis, encephalitis, babesiosis, and tick-borne bartonella.   The lone star tick , although not as prevalent as the Deer Tick, may stalk you from up to 50 feet away and carries Southern Tick - Associated Rash Illness.

Yard sprays, a crack and crevice inside and outside of the home is a major part of the elimination of this pest from your home or office.  Action's complete Tick Treatment is a cost effective way to eliminate this vial pest.

"Due to the nature of our landscape, NJ is a fertile environment for Ticks" continued Richard Russell.  "Children are the most at risk and it is very important for everyone to take the proper precautions."
